A sunny day at Green Lake Park: Photos from Daniel Berman

Tiger Zane concert at Cafe Lulu this Sunday

Singer/songwriter Tiger Zane is coming to Green Lake. Tiger will be playing a casual, family-friendly, acoustic concert at Cafe Lulu (6417 Latona Ave NE) on Sunday, March 27th, 2011, 3-5 p.m. The event, which is a fundraiser for a recording trip Tiger is taking to Nashville, will feature a raffle, desserts and snacks, music and t-shirts for sale. Admission is by donation.

Northern Flickers seen in Green Lake

Max and Melissa, who live a few blocks from the southeast corner of Green Lake in Tangletown, wrote to us today (Friday, March 25, 2011) with some news about local birds. “Every year around this time,” Max says, “we see Northern Flickers in the neighborhood, attempting to peck holes in siding and picking bugs from cracks in the sidewalk. Flickers are slightly smaller woodpeckers without the characteristic red head. The 2011 Green Lake Milk Carton Derby

This summer’s Green Lake Milk Carton Derby, a Seafair tradition since 1972, will be Saturday, July 16, 2011, 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The homemade rafts take off from the southwest corner of Green Lake, near the Aqua Theater and the Green Lake Small Craft Center (5900 West Green Lake Way N). The rafts’ primary floatation must be dependent upon milk cartons. Green Lake host families needed for international teens

Host families are needed for 15 Spanish teens who will live and study in Seattle this July. Andeo International Homestays is looking for families in the Green Lake area. The students will be taking English classes at the Phinney Neighborhood Center (6532 Phinney Ave N) from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. during the week, and will spend evenings and weekends with families. The stay will begin June 29, 2011 and will last four weeks. “The teens come with travel insurance and spending money, speak English, and are excited to learn more about America, English, and Seattle,” Sarah Lam, Andeo’s local coordinator says. “This could be…
