On Tuesdays, we publish a vintage postcard from Green Lake’s past. These postcards were generously scanned and shared with us by Green Lake residents Mark and Mary Griffin. You can view previously-published postcards here (sorry we missed last week!). This week’s card features a brightly-colored view of the Green Lake loop. “Green Lake is the smallest of three freshwater lakes within Seattle’s city limits,” the undated card reads. “The other two, Lake Washington and Lake Union are connected with salt-water Puget Sound by the eight-mile long Lake Washington ship-canal.” This postcard was published by the Metropolitan Photo Co., which describes it as…

Sunday Photo: The arch at Green Lake Park
On Sundays, we feature a great shot of our park or neighborhood from the MyGreenLake Flickr Pool. This week’s photo, by Curtis Cronn, was shot on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Green Lake Park. It features the arch at the end of the Green Lake Shade Plaza, which is located on the east side of the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N). The historic arch was installed at Green Lake Park in the spring of 2009. Prior to being moved to Green Lake, the City of Seattle had been keeping it in storage. The arch originally was located at the…
