Some stories of note that have popped up elsewhere recently:

PhinneyWood reports on some changes at the corner of 73rd & Linden. Off White Makeup and Beauty is taking over the space at 7305 Linden Ave N formerly occupied by Spindle. Next door, Sugarcomb Salon at 780 N 73rd St is expanding its services and adding an aesthetician. And, the corner of 73rd & Linden recently got some new retro-looking streetlamps to make it safer for pedestrians.

M.J. Kelly of  the Cascade Bicycle Club ponders, “What if Green Lake Way were one way?” and My Ballard reports that the City of Seattle is exploring the option of bringing bike boulevards to the city.

West Seattle Blog reports that the City Council Parks and Seattle Center Committee is meeting this afternoon (Thursday, March 10, 2011). One item on the agenda is an update on the proposal to study the possibility of raising money by charging for parking at some city parks. The option of a pilot program that would include charging for parking at the Green Lake Community Center is being discussed.

(Update, March 11 – PubliCola reports that the Parks Committee agreed yesterday that a pilot project to charge for parking at city parks should start with the recently opened Lake Union Park. There are no current plans for paid parking at Green Lake Park.)

Also from West Seattle Blog today comes this little historical tidbit: the “Queen of the Rollerball” at the Southgate Rollerdome in the pre-WWII days was a Green Lake resident!
