Update, April 4, 2011: Revolutions Espresso (7012 Woodlawn Ave NE) reports that the new $1/hr rate is now in effect.

Parking rates in the east Green Lake business district will soon be reduced.

Currently, it costs shoppers and visitors $1.50/hour to use Green Lake’s 118 paid on-street parking spaces. That rate is scheduled to decrease to $1/hour in early April 2011, according to Margo Polley, Strategic Advisor in the Parking Operations and Traffic Permits Section of the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).

According to a notice on their website, SDOT used parking data to determine new on-street parking rates that, on average, will make one or two spaces available per block. The new 2011 rates will increase in four neighborhoods, decrease in 11 neighborhoods (including Green Lake), and will stay the same in seven neighborhoods, compared to 2010 rates.
