The 7th annual Green Lake Open Water Swim (GLOWS) is Sunday, June 26, 2011.
The event, a ½-mile or 1-mile swim west to east across Green Lake, is sponsored by Seattle Parks and Recreation.
Early Bird Registration is open until June 18, 2011. Registrations after June 17 will be $15.00 more. Day-of-race registration starts Sunday, June 26 ,between 7:30-8:30 a.m., in the Green Lake Community Center lobby (7201 E Green Lake Dr N). Swimmers under 18 years of age must have a parent’s permission to register.
Check-in stations open at 7:30 a.m. on June 26. The ½-mile Swim begins at 9 a.m. from West Green Lake Beach (shuttle vans to West Green Lake Beach start at 7:45 a.m.). The 1-mile swim begins at approximately 9:30 a.m., after the ½-mile swim is finished. The 1-mile swim begins and ends at East Green Lake Beach.
An awards program follows the 1-mile swim. There will be prizes for the top male and female finishers in each age group category. All participants receive a commemorative t-shirt and cap.
Wetsuits are recommended. Lockers for storage are available for .25 in the Evans Pool locker rooms.
