We’ve received a few notes asking for an update on the Green Lake Duke’s Chowder House (7858 Green Lake Dr N). The popular restaurant’s sign has been taken down, and, as one reader says, “I’m freaking out a little bit!” I swung by Duke’s earlier today (Friday, Feb. 11, 2011) and confirmed that Duke’s is not closing. The restaurant’s exterior is simply getting a bit of a face lift, including a new sign.

Boxers, socks, and coats collected at Billings Middle School for the Orion Center
A group of 8th grade boys at Green Lake’s Billings Middle School is collecting boys’ boxers, socks, and coats for YouthCare’s Orion Center, a downtown multi-service facility open to youth ages 13-22. The project is part of a community service project. Donations from the community are welcome. They can be left in the lobby of the school at 7217 Woodlawn Ave N through Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
