Nell’s Restaurant announces 2011 Chef Tribute Dinner Series

Nell’s Restaurant (6804 E Green Lake Way N) has announced their 2011 Chef Tribute Dinner Series. “Each dinner in the series,” a press release from the restaurant explains, “honors a legendary culinary figure from the past with a multi-course meal of his or her original recipes paired with fantastic wines and delightful commentary by Seattle food writer, Ernie Pino. These dinners serve to educate with interesting biographies, delight the senses with remarkable cuisine, and ultimately bring influential culinary legends to life.” All dinners are $85 plus tax and gratuity unless otherwise noted. Collision at Wallingford Ave N & N 85th St

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. today (Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011), there was a collision at Wallingford Ave N & N 85th St.  Eastbound traffic was impacted until just before 10:30 a.m. As of 10:40 a.m., there is no word on any injuries related to this collision.  We will keep you updated if we learn more. Attempted burglary at Bethany Lutheran Church interrupted by homeless shelter resident

Pastor Dennis Andersen of Bethany Lutheran Church (7400 Woodlawn Ave NE) wrote to us tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011) about an attempted burglary at the church. According to a police report, the incident happened around 3 a.m. last Thursday morning (Jan 13, 2011). Bethany Lutheran Church has been home to SHARE, a homeless shelter, since July 2010, following a tense community meeting held by the church (read more about the meeting here). Green Lake resident profiled by Northwest Hospital

Many thanks to Northwest Hospital & Medical Center for sharing this article with us about Green Lake resident Misty Baskett.  The article first appeared as the cover story in the January/February 2011 issue of MedInfo Magazine. In June 2010, she ran the Seattle Rock ‘N Roll half marathon. On her birthday in October, it was a half marathon in Victoria, British Columbia. The red swings at Green Lake playground

Curious about the big red swings at the Green Lake playground? According to a recent blog post written by Seattle City Councilmember Sally Bagshaw, these swings are “universally accessible” equipment. The swings , which have deep seats and offer support for a child’s back and head, are designed for children with little or no muscle control.
