Dog seen wandering alone in south Green Lake

What do you think? (6 Comments) January 18, 2011 at 2:38PM

A reader wrote to us this morning (Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011) about a dog she has seen for the past two days wandering alone in south Green Lake. She spotted the dog yesterday at East Green Lake Way N and Ashworth Ave N, and again early this morning at N 50th St & Green Lake Way N, across the street from Northwest Veterinary Hospital.

The dog is a large adult German Shepard.  He or she is dragging a leash and looks, according to the reader who contacted us, “very frightened.”

Another dog, a black and white male American Bulldog or Pitbull, has also been spotted in recent days, roaming alone near Dayton Ave N & N 70th St, in Phinney Ridge. You can read more about that dog on PhinneyWood.

I tried to catch the greman shepherd this morning as she/he crossed the street headed toward the Woodland Park dog park, still dragging a leash (or rope/tether – looked pretty beat up). The dog would not come near me, perhaps because I had two dogs on leash with me at the time. Breaks my heart. I hope this dog will be reunited with the owner.

I’ll go by on my way home from work and look for her. I’m in Mt Vernon now.

        Bring snacks if you can.

To anyone reading this, the Emerald City Vet on Stone Way (and I am guessing other 24 hour vet facilities) can take in animals found loose if the shelter/animal control is closed.

I went by after work- drove all around the lake and went up to Woodland Park and got out and walked around. I asked a few dog owners if they had spotted a stray GSD and no one had. So….either someone has caught up with her or she’s hiding. If anyone has an update, we’d all appreciate it.

The owner lost the dog on Monday. He was in front of our home at Woodlawn and 50th when the dog broke free. I hope sure hope the dog finds his way home or into the hands of someone who can help. The owner was pretty distraught that he couldn’t catch up to his dog.

We saw him up by the 99 on ramp and 50th (by the Childcare place) on Monday morning, running east.
