McDonald Elementary will be international school

When the Seattle Public School District announced in fall 2009 that it would reopen McDonald Elementary as a neighborhood school, many parents in the attendance area lobbied for it to be an international school, like the popular John Stanford International School. Senator Ed Murray to receive social justice award for improving the lives of LGBT families
This Sunday (Dec. 19, 2010), Washington State Senator Ed Murray will receive the Herman and Margarita Will Peace and Social Justice Award. The award will be presented by First United Methodist Church of Seattle (First Church). Sen. Several teachers at Green Lake area public schools earn National Board certification
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards announced yesterday (Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010) that 71 Seattle Public Schools teachers earned their National Board certification in 2010. Seattle now has 227 National Board-certified teachers, an increase of more than 40 percent over last year. The National Board noted that Seattle Public Schools is among the nation’s top 20 districts in terms of the number of teachers who achieved national certification in 2010, ranking sixth. Several of the teachers who earned National Board certification serve families in the Green Lake area.
