Greenlake Bar & Grill burglarized
The Greenlake Bar & Grill (7200 E Green Lake Drive N) was burglarized early Sunday morning (Dec. 19, 2010). A glass door on the south side of the building was smashed in, and the thief or thieves attempted to disable the alarm system by cutting phone, cable, and DSL wires. Televisions were stolen, along with several bottles of alcohol. Staff were in good spirits during the Sunday morning brunch rush, despite having to deal with broken glass and the other effects of the break-in. Seattle Department of Neighborhoods announces 2011 Neighborhood Matching Fund program
The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods has announced the 2011 Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF) program. Updated application forms, program guidelines, and application deadlines are available for the city’s three funding programs: the Large Projects Fund, Small and Simple Fund, and Small Sparks Fund. A news release sent on Thursday detailed several changes and impacts to the Neighborhood Matching Fund for 2011. To provide more opportunities for smaller projects, the Small and Simple Fund now has three application rounds in 2011. The deadline for the first round is Jan. 18, 2011. Billings Middle School wins ‘Best Class Blog’ Award
For the second year in a row, students at Green Lake’s Billings Middle School (7217 Woodlawn Ave NE) have won the Edublogawards.com “Best Class Blog” award. The “Billings Beta” tech blog presents students’ schoolwork, class projects, experiments, and discussions. The Edublog award is an international competition determined by an online poll.
