The month in review…
Despite heavy rain, December brought crowds to Green Lake for the popular Pathway of Lights and to view a Tangletown home that was lit up with more than 30,000 lights. There were also several New Year’s Eve celebrations in the neighborhood.
There was an unusual amount of crime this past month in Green Lake.
A man attempted to sexually assault an 89-year-old woman at Green Lake Park. She fought her attacker off.
The locksmith scammer hit the neighborhood and readers reported an attempted break-in on NE Ravenna Blvd and the theft of bike parts from a building on NE 65th St. The Greenlake Bar & Grill was burglarized. A man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested at a motel on Aurora Ave N.
We also took a look back at a historical crime at Green Lake Park: the murder of Sylvia Gaines in 1926.
In business news, we welcomed Cafe Bonjour to the neighborhood and learned from Wallyhood that the 56th Street Market is coming soon to Tangletown. Calzones and gluten-free pizza are now available at Turnpike.
