Free coffee, tea, and specialty drinks at Bottega Italiana this weekend

David from Bottega Italiana (409 NE 70th St) asked us to share the news that the gelato and coffee shop will be launching a holiday menu this weekend.   They will be giving away free items from their coffee, tea, and specialty drink menus on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 20 & 21, 2010). Councilmember Conlin: City Council is still working to prevent offices from moving into Green Lake Community Center

Yesterday (Monday, Nov. 16, 2010), Seattle City Council President Richard Conlin sent an email to several members of the Green Lake community. Councilmember Conlin reviewed the changes that City Council has made to Mayor McGinn’s proposed 2011-2012 City budget.  On Friday, City Council added 15 weekly Green Lake Community Center drop-in hours to the 15 proposed by the mayor.  They also saved two of the three rooms slated for office space in the mayor’s proposed budget.  (You can read more about the changes City Council has made to the Mayor’s budget here.) “We are continuing to look for replacement space…

4-story retirement facility coming soon to Woodlawn and Latona

Updated Thursday, May 5 with corrected information about the height of The Hearthstone. Construction will soon begin at Woodlawn Ave NE and Latona Ave NE, the site of an empty lot for nearly two years. The property is owned by The Hearthstone, a continuing care retirement community which has occupied the 10-story concrete building at 6720 E Green Lake Way N since 1966. Another Green Lake business closes: “the green lake florist”

There has been lots of news this weekend about Green Lake businesses opening and closing (and, closing). Sadly, we have information about another neighborhood businesses that has closed its doors. “The green lake florist” (the name was spelled using lower-case letters), previously located at 7212 Woodlawn Ave NE, is no longer open. The shop first opened in July in a space previously used as an auxiliary computer lab by Billings Middle School.
