This morning (Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010), shortly after 10 a.m. in Green Lake, very slight snow flakes began to fall, prompting several “snow!” tweets from the Green Lake Gobble & Mashed Potato Munch Off at Green Lake Park. Around 11:45 a.m., the snow started to pick up. At 12:15 p.m., it’s still coming down, although it is not sticking. 2010 Green Lake Elementary School Christmas Tree Sale begins on Friday
Green Lake Elementary School‘s 25th annual Christmas Tree Sale kicks off on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The sale takes place at the school, located at 2400 N 65th St: A wide variety of high quality cut fir trees, including Nobles, Grands, Douglas Firs and Frasers, will be available, as well as decorative wreaths and swags. After the opening at 1 p.m. this Friday, sale days and times are: Mondays through Fridays, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sale closes on Sunday, Dec. 19….
Public welcome at informational meeting about Green Lake’s algae / UPDATE: Canceled Due to Snow
Update, Monday Nov. 22: Due to snow, this meeting has been canceled. The next Friends of Green Lake meeting will be Jan. 25, 2011. The Friends of Green Lake meets at 7 p.m. this Tuesday (Nov. 23, 2010) at The Hearthstone (6720 E Green Lake Way N). Karl Bruun, an algologist, will be speaking at the meeting. Bruun grew up in Green Lake and worked for many years identifying algae for the King County laboratory. A photo he took of algae was a Nikon Image of Distinction in 2009.
