In a HistoryLink.org essay surveying the history of severe weather in Seattle, Paul Dorpat cites the winter of 1893. 45 inches of snow dropped between January 27 and February 8. Holiday shopping at the Bizarre Bazaar
The Kooterville Bizarre Bazaar is returning to the Green Lake Community Center gym (7201 E Green Lake Drive N) on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Avoid the mall this holiday season! Do all of your shopping at the Bizarre Bazaar! We’ll have affordable handcrafted jewelry, knits, soaps, art, clothes, foods and uniquely bizarre wares for your holiday shopping pleasure. Plus refreshments, a holiday DJ and even a craft table for the kiddies! Admission is free!
Update on availability of Green Lake’s library and parks facilities
The Green Lake Library will be open today, noon to 5 p.m. The gym and the toddler play space at the Green Lake Community Center are open for drop-in today, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. All community center classes and programs have been canceled. All lessons at Evans Pool are canceled, but the pool is open for water exercise, lap swims, and public swims until 6:30 p.m. All athletic fields are closed today. The Green Lake Small Craft Center is also closed.

Upcoming events at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church
St Andrew’s Episcopal Church (111 NE 80th St) asked us to share information about the following events: All are invited for a morning of silence, prayer, and reflection. Gather at 9:00am for coffee and pastries. Beginning at 9:15, there will be Morning Prayer in the Anglican tradition followed by two periods of Centering Prayer with a short contemplative walk between in the tradition of Contemplative Outreach.
