Community Center update: Pathway of Lights saved, future of classes still uncertain
On Monday (Nov 22, 2010), Seattle City Council passed the city’s 2011-12 budget. Councilmember Jean Godden called this year’s budget “without a doubt, the most difficult” she has worked on since becoming chair of the City Council Budget Committee three years ago. “Each year,” she said, “we have reduced city services and employment and we did so again this time around.” However, the Council was able to provide funding to restore 15 weekly drop-in hours at the Green Lake Community Center, in addition to the 15 initially proposed by Mayor McGinn.
