Volunteer to help remove blackberries at Green Lake Park

The Friends of Green Lake are hosting a work party next Saturday (Dec. 4, 2010), 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Volunteers will start removing the large blackberry patch that is just north of the split-rail fence closest to the pitch & putt golf course.

From Friends of Green Lake President Gayle Garman:

Our feet won’t get wet working here, so warm socks and hiking-type boots are recommended. Dress to resist the nasty thorns on the blackberry bushes, and for cold, maybe rainy, weather.

If the weather is really awful, for example, snowing, we will cancel, but we’ve had very good weather for our previous work parties. (Good Karma, maybe?)

The restrooms by the Aqua Theater will be closed, so plan accordingly!

Gayle asks that volunteers register at friendsofGL [at] gmail.com, so that can organizers can know how many tools and heavy gloves to bring.
