Green Lake graffiti on the rise
I have recently heard from several Green Lake residents who have noticed an increase in graffiti in the neighborhood. Last week, I sat down with Brandon Wright of Green Lake Pressure Washing and Graffiti Removal and asked him to share his observations. Yes, Brandon confirmed, there has definitely been an recent uptick in the amount of graffiti in Green Lake. “Not only is there more,” he said, “but it has become sloppier.” And, he’s noticed that graffiti reappears faster after being removed than it has in the past. In recent weeks, Brandon said, graffiti taggers have hit the concrete poles…

Unlike many Seattle neighborhoods, Green Lake does not have a Chamber of Commerce. Although there was an active group in the 1960s – 1980s, it has been defunct for several years. All interested Green Lake business owners are welcome at an exploratory meeting on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Greenlake Bar & Grill (7200 E Green Lake Dr N). The Greenlake Bar & Grill would like to know how many people to expect. …
Ted Bundy once saved a life in Green Lake

From Ann Rule’s The Stranger Beside Me: The Twentieth Anniversary Edition (page 32): As 1969 and 1970 passed, Ted’s path was straight upward, excelling in everything he put his hand to; he was becoming more urbane, superbly educated, socially adept. He was an ideal citizen. [...] In the summer of 1970, it was Ted Bundy who saved a three-and-a-half-year-old toddler from drowning in Green Lake in Seattle’s north end. No one had seen the child wander away…
Volunteer to help remove blackberries at Green Lake Park
The Friends of Green Lake are hosting a work party next Saturday (Dec. 4, 2010), 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Volunteers will start removing the large blackberry patch that is just north of the split-rail fence closest to the pitch & putt golf course. From Friends of Green Lake President Gayle Garman: Our feet won’t get wet working here, so warm socks and hiking-type boots are recommended. Dress to resist the nasty thorns on the blackberry bushes, and for cold, maybe rainy, weather. If the weather is really awful, for example, snowing, we will cancel, but we’ve had very good…
