Green Lake Elementary celebrates new garden

Green Lake Elementary School (2400 N 65th St) celebrated the grand opening of school’s Olallie Native Garden today (Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010).

Music was provided by the Northwest Junior Pipe Band

Three tiny doors throughout the garden provide access to fairies

A sensory garden invites children to touch and smell

The garden, which was built with with community support, was funded in part by the City of Seattle’s Neighborhood Matching Fund.  The previous garden on the site was  improved by making it accessible to kids with disabilities, adding an outdoor classroom for instructional activities, and constructing sustainable elements.
