McDonald Elementary School parent Jennifer Longtin wrote to tell us that the school, which is temporarily located at Lincoln High School (4400 Interlake Ave N), is holding their first walkathon next Friday (October 22, 2010), 1250 p.m. – 3 p.m.
From Jennifer:
Since we are a new school in the city we have NO funds to support teacher assistants, field trips or other programs that schools depend on PTA’s to support.
What is special about this walk-a-thon to us is that it has fitness (kids raising money and walking for it), education (our priority is to get assistants into the classroom), and community; not only are parents involved, Katie Follett, who is training for the Olympics and a few other athlete friends will be there to cheer them on. We also hope to get as many business sponsors on board to sponsor too since we only have 60 kids in the school.
Local businesses and individuals interested in sponsorship can find information on the McDonald School PTA website. 100% of proceeds go toward programs for the kids.
