Green Lake kids invited to tryout for Pony Olympic baseball team

What do you think? (No Comments) August 19, 2010 at 11:08AM

Rich Selenis from the North Seattle Baseball Association (NSBA) asked us to get the word out to local kids and parents about upcoming tryouts for a competitive Pony Olympic team.

The team will compete at the highest level with other teams in the region through play in Pony league games and summer tournaments.  Players are eligible if they are 13 years old (or younger) on April 30, 2011.

Tryouts will be held 2 to 4 p.m. on August 22 and September 5, 2010 on the turf fields located behind Whitman Middle School (9201 15th Ave NW).

Players should make at least one of the tryouts, both if possible (Should you have scheduling conflicts, contact coaches for private work-out).  Please arrive at the tryouts 15 minutes early to warm up. We want to be efficient with our time and give all players ample opportunity to showcase their skills.

Results from the tryouts will be announced via e-mail by September 12.

Pony league and team fees run approximately $650 (lodging for tournaments excluded).  If this is a hardship, scholarships are available through the league to help defray costs.

Practices will be once per week starting in November, and the number will gradually increase to two and then possibly three per week as the baseball season approaches.  We strongly encourage kids to play other sports and will attempt to schedule our fall/winter workouts around basketball/soccer and other activities.
