Tangletown's Meridian Market goes dark

What do you think? (1 Comment) August 29, 2010 at 5:07PM

Meridian MarketThe lights are off and the doors are locked at Meridian Market (2201 N 56th St).

The market has been a fixture in Tangletown for three years.  It has been struggling since last winter, and was officially put up for sale two weeks ago.  A craigslist ad lists the sale price at $250,000.

When I spoke with owner Wally Wright on August 11, he had no plans of shutting down the market before it was sold.  However, My Green Lake tipster Ann tells us that the market was closed on Thursday night, and horseknuckle reports that it was still shut on Saturday evening.

Phone calls to the market go unanswered, and a peek inside reveals groceries on the shelves and food in the deli case, but no employees in sight.

We miss you, Wally!  Best of luck to you, and we hope to see Meridian Market up and running again soon.
