The region’s largest summer rowing event is coming to Green Lake this Saturday, August 7, 2010.

More than 1,000 participants from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia will compete in the 49th Annual Green Lake Summer Rowing Regatta.

Competitions begin at 6:45 a.m. and continue throughout the day, with the last race at 6:30 p.m.  Races will start every 10 minutes. Schedules are online at and will be available at the event. Races begin at the north end of Green Lake near Duck Island and finish at the Aqua Theater.

Seating in the Aqua Theater is limited.  Another great viewing spot is along the southwest shore of the lake, just west of the Aqua Theater.

Coffee and t-shirt vendors will be on site throughout the day.

Seattle Parks and Recreation asks that spectators walk, bike or bus to Green Lake Park, as parking will be extremely limited.  The Green Lake Crew website advises rowers and parents to “park East in the Green Lake Neighborhood or just West in the Phinney Neighborhood.”

For more information about the regatta, call the Green Lake Small Craft Center at (206) 684-4074.
