Use FlashVolunteer.org to search for and list Green Lake volunteer events

What do you think? (4 Comments) August 16, 2010 at 10:25AM

My Green Lake reader Caroline Sherman wrote to give us a heads-up on a very cool website: Flash Volunteer.

Flash Volunteer is a “web-based engagement portal” for volunteer service in Seattle.  You can use it to search for volunteer opportunities in the neighborhood or to create your own volunteer events to promote to your neighbors.

While there are no current volunteer opportunities listed for Green Lake, “I thought it might be useful for folks in Green Lake to know about it,” says Caroline.  “The more folks know about it, the more opportunities might emerge through it.”

Previous Green Lake volunteer events listed on the site included helping with set-up for the Girls Rock! day camp, doing data entry at the Freestyle Disc World Championships, and building a green roof shed at Green Lake Elementary School’s Olallie Native Garden.

Thanks, Caroline!
