Now open: Casa Patron Restaurant and Bar

Casa Patron, located just east of I-5 at 805 NE 65th St, next door to The Scarlet Tree, opened its doors on Wednesday (August 4, 2010).

The restaurant and bar was described as “a Mexican bistro” by the waiter we spoke with today.  It is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. – 12 a.m., and Friday through Sunday, 8 a.m. – 2 a.m.  There is a happy hour every day, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.  Free parking is available.

Live music will be regularly featured, including mariachi this Wednesday (August 11, 2010) at 9 p.m.

    We ate there on Friday. The service was excellent. You could tell they were new and aiming to please, but really, low pressure, good attention to detail, friendly without being overbearing. The food was very good. I can't speak for authenticity, but I'd peg it as the best Mexican food we've had outside of Mexico (without going into the whole taco truck scene, since this is a sitdown restaurant and obviously not to be compared).

    Prices were decent and portions were good. The ceviche in particular was very full of seafood and for the price, was a steal. Drinks might have been a little on the weak side, but they were interesting combinations and flavors. We'll definitely be back.
