'Girls Rock!' comes to Green Lake
Billings Summer, a program at Billings Middle School (7217 Woodlawn Ave NE) which is open to all kids, is off to rocking start. The program, which runs from July 12 to August 13, 2010, includes a variety of classes, including Contact Juggling, Circus Arts, and Girls Rock!, which was recently highlighted in The Seattle Times: Girls Rock! Seattle starts Monday and runs through Friday at Billings Middle School in Greenlake. Green Lake's Medic One Unit to move to the U-District
Tonight (Saturday, July 24, 2010) was Medic 16′s last night in Green Lake. I spoke with Greg Forslund, a fire fighter at Fire Station 16 (6846 Oswego Place NE). Forslund confirmed that The Seattle Fire Department is transferring the Medic One Unit to Station 17 (temporarily located at 4557 11th Ave NE), and that tonight was the unit’s last shift at Station 16. Engine 16, a fire engine, will remain at Station 16, which is scheduled to be renovated in 2011. Medic One Units provide Advanced Life Support. Green Lake Elementary School invites the neighborhood to a garden-building work party
The Green Lake Elementary School PTA and Olallie Garden Club invite the Green Lake community to a workshop and work party at the school’s Olallie Native Garden. Green Lake Elementary parents are using funding from the City of Seattle’s Neighborhood Matching Fund to improve the existing garden by making it accessible to kids with disabilities, adding an outdoor classroom for instructional activities and constructing sustainable elements to be enjoyed by the whole neighborhood.
