Scenes from today’s 100th anniversary celebration at the Green Lake Library

The Green Lake Branch of The Seattle Public Library (7364 E Green Lake Dr N) celebrated its 100th anniversary today (Saturday, July 31, 2010). Visitors were treated to live piano music from the early 1900s and an exhibit of vintage clothing and hats from Goodwill’s Vintage Fashion Collection: Written stories from patrons about their favorite Green Lake Library experiences were on display: The library in July 1987:

64-family yard sale in Green Lake next Saturday

My Green Lake tipster Bill wrote to let us know about a “gargantuan” yard sale coming to Green Lake next Saturday, August 7, 2010, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 64 families are participating in the annual fundraiser for the Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club. The yard sale will be at 7349 West Green Lake Dr N, near the Bathhouse Theatre, at a yellow house with a flag pole. “All items for sale will be clean, working and gently used,” writes Bill.  Items up for sale include: Small and large appliances Sports and exercise equipment Tools, Books CD’s and DVD’s Collectibles…

Budget crisis may mean no bus tickets for men in Green Lake SHARE shelter

SHARE, the organization that runs a shelter for twenty homeless men in Green Lake, is short on money. The Green Lake shelter, which is located at Bethany Lutheran Church (7400 Woodlawn Ave NE), has been in operation since July 15th  of this year.  Many residents from the surrounding area have expressed concerns about the shelter. A representative from SHARE sent an “emergency update” this morning to an email announcement list associated with the Nickelsville homeless camp. “Next week,” the email states, “our cash flow will hit the wall. Julia Child Chef Tribute Dinner at Nell’s Restaurant

Nell’s Restaurant (6804 E Green Lake Way N) just announced that they have added a second night to their Julia Child Chef Tribute Dinner, a popular annual event. The dinner will honor Julia Child by featuring her cuisine in conjunction with lively commentary and paired wines.
