Greenlake Wines, the neighborhood’s new wine bar and wine shop, is hosting a series of Thursday-evening wine tastings.
This Thursday (June 3, 2010), 5-7 p.m., five wines from Madeira, an island off the coast of Portugal, will be poured.
The highlight of the tasting is that we will be sampling a 1948 Bual (Bual is a kind of grape- like merlot or chardonnay).
Besides being old and rare (normal retail price would be $320) it is a vintage Madeira as well. And beyond that if it is a vintage year they aren’t released until 20 years after bottling.
We are only pouring one bottle of this wine on a first come first serve basis. The opportunity to taste this wine is very rare and exciting!
We are also tasting the other grape varieties from Madeira as well: a 10 year sercial, malmsey and bual and a very modern delicious blended wine called Alvada.
We’ll also have simple food pairings with the wines.
Greenlake Wines is located at 1400 N 80th St, on the ground floor of Green Lake Pointe Apartments.
