Wading Pool Opens on Saturday (weather pending…)
The Green Lake wading pool dodged the budget bullet and will be opening for the season on Saturday.
The wading pool is located on the north end of Green Lake at the intersection of Wallingford Ave N and E Green Lake Drive N.
The wading pool will be open 7 days per week, 11 a.m – 8 p.m, through September 6, but only on sunny days when the temperature is forecast to be 70 degrees or above. You can check the status of the wading pool daily at (206) 684-7796.
Green Lake Open Water Swim on Sunday
The Green Lake Open Water Swim (GLOWS) race day is Sunday. You can register on Sunday morning, 7:30-8:30 a.m., in the Evans Pool/Green Lake Community Center Lobby (7201 E Green Lake Dr N).
The ½ Mile Swim begins at 9 a.m. from West Green Lake Beach.
The Mile Swim begins at approximately 9:30 a.m., after the ½ Mile Swim is finished. The mile swim begins and ends at East Green Lake Beach.
Fire Station 16 Open House on Sunday
Green Lake’s fire station, located at 6846 Oswego Place NE, is hosting an open house on Sunday, 10 a.m. – noon. Meet your neighborhood firefighters and tour the engine.

Happy Pride Weekend! Green Lake’s nearest gay bar, Wallingford’s Changes, is hosting a swimwear contest tonight (Friday).
Two of the stars of the Twilight movie series will appear at the 2010 opening night of the Fremont Outdoor Movies on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Carkeek Park, just north of Greenwood, will open a temporary outdoor sculpture exhibit titled “Heaven and Earth,” designed to provoke discussion about “the natural world in a time of dramatic change.”
