GreenStage, Seattle’s longest running Shakespeare Company, is returning to Lower Woodland Park this summer with free performances of Romeo and Juliet and As You Like It.
Performances are in the meadow on the east side of Aurora Ave N, just south of the lawn bowling and horseshoe pits, near Shelter 6 (across Aurora Ave from the zoo).
Romeo and Juliet – July 15th and 17th at 7:00pm
Directed by Corey McDaniel
Can two young lovers end a family feud or merely fan its flames? A story that has inspired poets, filmmakers, romantics and cynics alike for centuries is brought to life by director Corey McDaniel. GreenStage alums Ryan Higgins (Proteus, Two Gentlemen of Verona) and Carolyn Marie Monroe (Ophelia, Hamlet) play the lovers in this timeless tragedy.
As You Like It – July 16th at 7:00pm, July 17th at 3:00pm
Directed by Teresa Thuman
Come find a patch of grass and be transported to the Forest of Arden where court life goes on its head and love comes to all who seek it – and some who don’t. Teresa Thuman, director of last summer’s successful production of King John, helms this lively, music filled story of self-discovery. “All the world’s a stage…” in one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies.
