Florist to open up shop in Green Lake

The Green Lake neighborhood is getting a florist. Green Lake Floral Design will be open for business on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 7212 Woodlawn Ave NE, between Rosita’s Mexican Grill and Mockingbird Books. This location was previously occupied by Billings Middle School.  The school, which is primarily located across the street, used the space as an auxiliary computer lab.  In March, the storefront next to it was gutted by a fire. Terry Jones, who is opening the shop, also owns Lake City Florist (11742 15th Ave NE). The shop will be a full service florist and will offer delivery. …

Walk the Green Lake loop with Seattle Storm CEO Karen Bryant

Seattle Storm President & CEO Karen Bryant is coming to Green Lake. Bryant will be walking the Green Lake loop this Sunday afternoon (June 27, 2010).  Storm fans are invited to join her as she walks and listens to the Storm face Tulsa on KKNW 1150 AM. Meet Bryant at 1:00 p.m. at the southwest corner of Green Lake, near the Green Lake Small Craft Center. Old trolley pilings removed from East Green Lake Beach

My Green Lake reader Rebecca wrote to us earlier today (Tuesday, June 22, 2010) with this query: Just wondering if you know why the east side of Greenlake swim area is closed off. I was walking down there today and was bummed to see it closed since it’s so warm outside. We contacted Evans Pool Aquatic Center Coordinator Donna Sammons and asked about closures at the lake. Did the Queen Anne Creeper appear in Green Lake?

Last Thursday (June 17, 2010), our news partner Queen Anne View reported on the arrest of the “Queen Anne Creeper.” The Queen Anne Creeper has been described as a white male with a goatee who drove around Queen Anne in a stolen vehicle, stopping to ask women along the streets for the time or for directions to Magnolia.  In some of the instances he made suggestive and inappropriate sexual comments to the women.
