Today (Monday, June 28, 2010), between 3:32 p.m. and 3:38 p.m, a total of 21 emergency response units were sent to Green Lake’s east beach for a water rescue. Happily, all is well.  At 3:49 p.m., The Seattle Fire Department tweeted that a boat had overturned on Green Lake and the “person is now on the shore and uninjured.” This is the second large water rescue at Green Lake this month.  Take care out there, everyone!

Green Lake's Streetwise Gardener: Progress marches slowly, or reallyreallyfast…

Thank goodness for the sun this week, or I think Seattle would have to have been designated a rain forest!  We’re seeing a lot of mold and fungus on leaves as a result – remove damaged leaves ASAP and dispose in trash (not compost).  But all is not lost: Too many coffee grounds?
