Ballard High School teacher Jill Zawatski is looking for local families interested in hosting French students and their chaperone this summer.
Zawatski is coordinating a summer French exchange program through the France-based organization Mondes Nouveaux. The students will be in Seattle July 29 through August 18, 2010.
While all of the students have already been placed with host families, Zawatski is still in need of a North Seattle host family for their chaperone Nathalie, who is 29 years old:
A school teacher from Paris, Nathalie is the French chaperone who is traveling to Seattle with 15 teenagers this summer. During her stay, Nathalie will be busy working approximately 30% of the time. She enjoys horseback riding, reading, gardening, going to movies, and she recently took up salsa dancing!
Zawatski is also looking for back-up families for the French students:
Seeking back-up host families who can host a French teenager on an as-needed / temporary basis during their stay in Seattle. 15 students have been successfully placed with wonderful host families. However, we recognize that things come. In case a host family experiences an emergency and can no longer host (or needs to suddenly leave town for a couple days), we’d like to be prepared.
Lastly, there is an opportunity to host French student Melanie, who is 17 years old, August 12-18:
Melanie’s host family has travel plans during part of her stay, so she needs a host family for a short time. Melanie is from Toulouse. She enjoys swimming, reading, art, painting, music, going to movies, and nature. She describes herself as open minded with a sense of humor. Her parents own a bakery! She is very excited to come to Seattle to meet new people and learn about American culture.
