Curious about the signs advertising the Greenlake Farmers Market on the west side of Green Lake?
The market is located at 6501 Aurora Ave N. Note, however, that it is not always visible while driving down Aurora. A U-Haul truck-rental business in located on the same lot, and the trucks can block views of the market. If you see the U-Hauls, you know you are in the right place.
Slawek Pytlasinski, who many know as “Green Lake Guy,” has run the market since 2007. He is kicking off the season on Friday, June 18th 2010 with fresh cherries.
July will bring apples, nectarines, peaches, sweet corn, tomatoes, watermelon, and cantaloupe. Pears will hit the market in August. Come September, you will find squash, pumpkins, gourds, decorative corn, and straw. Winter brings Christmas trees.
The sweet corn is especially delicious. Farmers pick it in the middle of the night, when it is dormant and retaining its flavor. It arrives at the market just a few hours later.
The Greenlake Farmers Market is open six days a week (it’s usually closed on Mondays). Hours are 10 a.m. through 7 p.m., subject to the weather.
Update, Sunday June 13, 2010: An updated crop list is now available.

Another fabulous reason to love Green Lake! I plan to be there tomorrow, looking for organics. See you there!
Hi Mike!
Yep, pretty cool. :)
FYI, the farmer's market doesn't open until Friday, June 18th 2010, when cherries arrive.
See you there!
