Child's bike found on west side of Green Lake
Anne sent us this picture at 8:15 tonight (Sunday, May 30, 2010) with the following note: My husband was just now jogging the lake – he saw this bike ditched by the water on the Aurora side. He said a few folks were looking around for a family or small child that it might belong too – but no luck. Who knows how long it will be there, but maybe some little girl wants her bike back. Do you know who this bike belongs to?
2010 Ted Houk Memorial Regatta
Green Lake will be the center of the paddling universe next weekend (June 5-6, 2010) for the 31st Annual Ted Houk Memorial Regatta, hosted by the Seattle Canoe and Kayak Club (SCKC). “This is one of the premier regattas in the country and the largest on the West coast,” said SCKC Sprint Team coach Aasim Saleh. Billings Middle School (7217 Woodlawn Ave N) is hosting a community event on Sunday, June 6, 2010, 4-6 p.m. The event is a dedication ceremony for the school’s new “Steps to Green Lake.” There will be music by The Shed Boys, refreshments, campus tours, and presentations by Board Chair Art Vertner, Head of School Ted Kalmus, and two alumni students. The “Steps” are the fulfillment of an idea by the students of the Class of 2007.
