The Woodland Park Zoo announced today this summer’s ZooTunes line-up.
The new season kicks off June 27, 2010. Tickets go on sale beginning May 3.

With affordable ticket prices and free admission for one child 12 and under with each ticket purchased, BECU ZooTunes presented by Carter Subaru offers one of the best concert bargains in the Northwest. The concerts are festival seating and concert-goers are encouraged to spread out with blankets and low-backed folding chairs (maximum height allowed: 24” high). Outside alcohol is prohibited.
BECU ZooTunes presented by Carter Subaru is a major fundraiser for the zoo. Last year, ZooTunes raised more than $1 million to support the zoo’s quality animal care, engaging education programs and wildlife conservation.

WHERE: All concerts take place in the North Meadow at Woodland Park Zoo. The North Meadow is near the new West Entrance located at Phinney Ave. N. between N. 55th St. and N. 56th Street. Additional entry is through the South Entrance at N. 50th St. & Fremont Ave. N.
TICKETS: Tickets go on sale beginning May 3 at 8:00 a.m. at all Metropolitan Market locations: Sand Point, Queen Anne, West Seattle, Uptown, Dash Point and Proctor. They are on sale each day at Metropolitan Market from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visit www.metropolitan-market.com for store directions. A $2 service fee is added, with 90% of the fee donated to the zoo. One child 12 and under per paid ticket is admitted free. Tickets sell out fast, so purchase early!
A limited number of tickets are available at Woodland Park Zoo gates during zoo hours: 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. daily. On May 3 only, tickets at zoo gates will be available 8:00 a.m. –6:00 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be available on www.BrownPaperTickets.com.
Ticket prices at all outlets will include a $1 facility fee to fund maintenance of the zoo’s concert facilities.
NEW: VIP ticket upgrades
For the first time, concert-goers can purchase upgrades to their ZooTunes tickets with two VIP packages. The “Eat Like the Band” upgrade available for the Carbon Leaf (7/14) and Great Big Sea (7/29) shows comes with premium reserved seating, special parking, a souvenir ZooTunes poster, and the same meal that is prepared for the band that evening according to their unique tastes. The “VIP Reserved Seating” upgrade available at all concerts provides concert-goers with seating in the VIP section, special parking, and a box lunch. COSTS: Eat Like the Band – $125 plus concert ticket price; VIP Reserved Seating – $100 plus concert ticket price. OTHER: Beer and Wine Garden – Enjoy a great selection of wine and beer with excellent views of the concert. A portion of every dollar spent in the Beer and Wine Garden goes to support the zoo’s quality animal care, engaging education programs and wildlife conservation initiatives around the world. The Beer and Wine Garden opens at 5:00 p.m. You must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol. No one will be served alcohol without proper photo I.D., regardless of age. Alcohol must stay within the designated Beer and Wine Garden area. Note: Alcohol from outside the zoo is not allowed.
NEW: Parking fee– Concert parking in zoo lots is now $5. Payments can be made by credit card using the pay kiosks in the zoo lots or concert-goers can use the available envelopes for cash payments—exact change only. Carpoolers will be able to take advantage of premium spaces—first-come, first-served—in the zoo’s north lot located at N. 59th Street and Evanston Ave. N. Free parking is available at lower Woodland Park. For parking alternatives, see bike, bus and shuttle information below.
Bike corrals – Biking or riding the bus helps to minimize traffic congestion and on-street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding the zoo. A staffed bike corral will be available at the north parking lot during all concerts. There is also a covered bike rack located at the new West Entrance located on Phinney Ave. N. between N. 55th Street and N. 56th Street.

NEW: On-site childcare: Let Woodland Park Zoo handle childcare for you with our Parents’ Night Out service at concerts this summer. Kids ages 4-11 will enjoy a fun-filled and educational evening under the supervision of zoo staff inside Zoomazium, while you enjoy the music on the North Meadow. Supervised activities for kids include games, puppet shows, and a live animal encounter, plus a tasty pizza dinner!
Drop-off is from 5:00-6:00 pm in the ARC building (just south of the new West Entrance), with dinner at 5:30. Cost is $25 per evening for first child; $20 for each additional child in the same family. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Drop-ins are welcome on the night of the event only if space is available.
