Notice anything missing from the Green Lake playground?
Yes, the merry-go-round has been removed, but never fear – this is not a permanent change to the playground.
Jeff Skinner, Green Lake Community Center Coordinator, told us that the merry-go-round is being repaired and should be back in a week or so. As he says, “no budget cut here.”
Update, Friday April 30: We just heard from Jeff Skinner, who shared some new information about the merry-go-round.
The merry-go-round’s whirl broke over the weekend. On Monday (April 26, 2010) the shop removed it.
During the whirl’s removal the crew found that the concrete base had not been installed correctly and was not stable. A new base is being poured and a replacement whirl has been ordered. The whirl will take approximately 5 weeks to be delivered. Parks and Rec will install it as soon as it is delivered.
