Thursday, April 22, 2010 is Earth Day 2010, the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
There are a few opportunities in the neighborhood to celebrate:
- Greenwood CoolMom is calling for an end to coal in Washington and a transition to clean energy and green jobs with a symbolic installation of hundreds of pinwheels around Green Lake on Sunday, April 18, 12-3 p.m.
- On Thursday, April 22, the Roosevelt Square Whole Foods Market (1026 NE 64th St) will be donating 5% of the day’s profits to the Whole Planet Foundation and will be hosting a waterless car wash, 12-3 p.m.
- Children aged 4-6 are invited to Fun Earth Day Adventures at the Green Lake Community Center (7201 E Green Lake Dr N) on Thursday, April 29, 12:30-1:15 p.m. Information can be found in the Seattle Parks and Recreation Spring 2010 North Central Catalog [pdf]:
Relays and obstacle courses will move children using various equipment. Coordination and gross body movements will be outcomes and a lot of fun too!

Update, April 14, 2010:
- On Saturday, April 24, there will be a Water Blessing Walk for Global Healing at Green Lake Park, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Celebrate Earth Day at the Latona Pub on the evening of Monday, April 19.
