What do you think? (No Comments) April 15, 2010 at 11:24AM

Author and autism expert Chantal Sicile-Kira will be in Green Lake tonight, Thursday, April 15, 2010.  She’ll be at the Green Lake Starbucks (7100 E Green Lake Dr N) for an hour beginning at 7:30 p.m.

I’m an award winning author and national speaker on autism – up here in Seattle for three days visiting colleges with my daughter, Rebecca.

My fourth book – 41 Things to Know about Autism – just came out and so while I am up here I thought it would be nice to meet some locals. Will give away three copies of my book. It’s good for parents of newly diagnosed children, or people in the community who have questions and want to know more – like “Why do they act the way they do?” “Why is he always carrying around that green plastic snake?” “I have a friend who has a child with autism, what can I do to help?”

I am known for practical and inspiring information about autism for educators and parents.

My son who is 21 is severely impacted by autism. He was highlighted on MTV’s True Life,” I Have Autism”

I was told to put him in an institution when he was little. I did not – and he is now graduating from high school – Typing with one finger to communicate. I have found a good institution – it’s called college!
