Seattle Parks and Rec faces many upcoming closures: Green Lake wading pool dodges the bullet

On Tuesday (April 27, 2010), KING 5 aired an interview with outgoing superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation Tim Gallagher.  Gallagher said that community centers and pools, as well as 24 of Seattle’s 27 public wading pools may close in June. According to Gallagher, three wading pools - at Lincoln Park, Green Lake and Volunteer Park – will “likely” remain open: Wallyhood, Wallingford’s neighborhood blog, reported today that the Wallingford wading pool is still scheduled to open on June 26 and run through Labor Day. Coming this weekend to The Pour House: lunch…and an open patio!

Some news from The Pour House (2253 North 56th St), the new bar and restaurant in Tangletown: We’re starting our weekend lunch program this Saturday (May 1, 2010) and Sunday at The Pour House from 11:30am – 3:30pm. The Green Lake playground's merry-go-round: not gone forever

Notice anything missing from the Green Lake playground? Yes, the merry-go-round has been removed, but never fear – this is not a permanent change to the playground. Jeff Skinner, Green Lake Community Center Coordinator, told us that the merry-go-round is being repaired and should be back in a week or so.  As he says, “no budget cut here.” Update, Friday April 30: We just heard from Jeff Skinner, who shared some new information about the merry-go-round.
