We just received some sad news from Lifestyle Chiropractic, a My Green Lake supporter and advertiser.
Passing by the windowed storefront of Lifestyle Chiropractic (7010 Woodlawn Ave N), on your way to Revolutions Espresso or Title Nine, you may have, like us, often cracked a smile at a familiar sight – a big (150-pound!) hairy fellow named Monty.
Sadly, Monty, a Leonberger, passed away suddenly this past weekend of a distended stomach.
Dr. Barry Gjerdrum of Lifestyle Chiropractic sent the following remembrance to share with his neighbors:
Monty was an integral part of our clinic and was well known in Green Lake. Patients and even strangers would come by and ask to take him for a walk around the lake! He never needed a leash as he couldn’t leave his mom’s side.
He befriended Heidi next door at Revolutions because she was always giving him treats – he would sit directly outside their door, oblivious to the fact he was blocking people’s way, waiting for his next treat.
Monty would get his 6 hour grooming at The Grooming Spa, hang out with the mechanics at Gregg’s Greenlake Cycles, frequent Super Jock ‘n Jill and stroll into any business that had their door open.
Here at our clinic, Monty would lay at the front door or in the middle of the hallway ramp so that people had to step over him to get by – we believe so he could get attention without having to move to get it! He loved everyone and showed it by driving his large head into their legs so they had no choice but to scratch him behind his ears. Mail carriers and delivery truck drivers were never adversaries of Monty, rather just more people that were coming to visit HIM. Gentle and patient with kids, aloof with other dogs, friendly with everyone.
The response from patients and neighbors has been amazing. Monty was such a staple here and he affected so many people. We are blessed to have had him be a part of our family.
