We received the following from Alyson Soma of the Seattle Public Theater at the Bathhouse (7312 West Green Lake Dr N):

Seattle Public Theater (SPT) invites theater-lovers, historians and biographers alike to join a special Talk Back with the cast and crew of Richard Greenberg’s The Violet Hour, Sunday, February 7th following the 2pm matinee at the historic Bathhouse Theater on Green Lake.

“The Violet Hour is definitely a play that will appeal to connoisseurs of history and biography,” says Shana Bestock, SPT Artistic Director.  “The dialogue is sparkling and witty and rather Stoppardian, and the play raises really interesting questions not only about our choices for the future, but the way we interpret and receive the past.”

It’s New York, 1919, a bubble in time after a horrible war and before a financial crash. Young publisher John Pace Seavering, eager to make his mark upon the world, has to choose between publishing the work of a friend or a lover.  The trajectory of their lives lies in the balance of his choice. When a mysterious machine appears, John must decide if the future is pre-written and unchangeable, or if he has the power – and the responsibility – to shape what is to come.

The Violet Hour is directed by Rita Giomi (Lobby Hero) and stars SPT favorites Evan Whitfield, Shawn Law, Shanna Allman, and Amber Wolfe, as well as Eric Reidmann in his SPT debut.

For more information or to purchase tickets to The Violet Hour, running now through February 21st or either of the final two shows in SPT’s Season (Dying City or The 13th of Paris), call the SPT Box Office 206-524-1300, Wednesday through Saturday from 12-5pm, or visit SPT online at seattlepublictheater.org.
