Seattle Red Cross provides shelter to Green Lake Plaza residents displaced by Monday’s fire
Monday’s fatal fire at Green Lake Plaza, which caused severe smoke damage to several units, left fourteen people temporarily homeless.
The Seattle Red Cross has been tweeting updates on the displaced residents, who have been housed at the Green Lake Community Center (7201 East Green Lake Dr N). The Red Cross has been providing not only shelter, but also emotional support.
We swung by the Community Center today and it looks like the Red Cross is still in the neighborhood.
It must be very difficult for these folks to still be out of their homes after three full days. Hang in there, neighbors!
Update, Friday February 19: The Seattle Red Cross has informed us that, after four days, the shelter is now closed and residents are finally back in their homes. Thank you, Red Cross!
