There was a fire at Green Lake Plaza (505 NE 70th St, near southbound I-5) today (Monday, February 15, 2010). Emergency response was first called to the scene at 1:24 p.m. Flames and a large smoke plume could be seen from several blocks away. Last week we told you about a Seattle Times article, written by Russ Hanbey, which gave some insight into one of the earliest* Green Lake families, the Weedin family. In the comments to our post, Hanbey, himself a direct descendant of the original Weedin clan, shares some more information about this fascinating family. Exciting news from Sustainable Green Lake: Volunteers needed – Spokespeople bike rides from Green Lake? How would you like to help get more people out on bikes? Spokespeople rides are led by Cascade Bicycle Club certified ride leaders and are for people of all levels of ridership, from new and reluctant riders to those fully road savvy.
