Volunteer forest stewards needed in Woodland Park

The Green Seattle Partnership is holding a training on March 13, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., for community members interested in taking a leadership role in forest restoration.  Contact Andrea Mojzak at andream@cascadeland.org or 206-905-6920 for more information. The Green Seattle Partnership offers the opportunity to make real positive change by volunteering in your local parks. We work to make our public greenspaces healthier and more sustainable by removing aggressive invasive plants and replanting with native northwest forest species. Rose pruning demonstration at Woodland Park Rose Garden next Saturday

The Seattle Rose Society will host its annual rose pruning demonstration next Saturday, February 27, noon-3 pm, at Woodland Park Rose Garden.  The event is free. From the Woodland Park Zoo: Need tips on pruning roses, using proper tools and more? Vigil at Green Lake tomorrow night to mark deaths in Afghanistan

Thanks to Fred Miller, President of Peace Action of Washington, for sending along the following the information: Peace Action of Washington and Greater Seattle Veterans for Peace will sponsor a vigil Sunday [February 21, 2010] evening, 6-8 pm, to mark the 1000th death of a member of the Americn military in Afghanistan.
