Trees removed from Green Lake park/playground

We received this query from My Green Lake reader Katherine this morning: Does anyone know why the trees were removed near the playground at the Green Lake Community Center? If it was due to a security or visibility issue, surely limbing them up would have worked. My son and I had many great times playing there and we are sad to see them go. Green Lake residential development at site of former Twin Teepees has been bought

The Puget Sound Business Journal is reporting that the site of the former Twin Teepees restaurant (7201 Aurora Ave N, a block south of Beth’s Cafe) has been purchased. Kelly Baker of Gramor Development Washington said his firm bought the half-completed residential development for $2.1 million. Baker said Gramor will spend another $2.5 million to finish the 24-unit apartment complex and commercial building. The development is about 60 percent completed, he said, but work’s been stalled for more than a year because the development has been in foreclosure proceedings. Traffic disruptions and increased noise levels near Aurora Ave in Green Lake begin tonight

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) recently began a new project which will bring more real-time traffic information to drivers on SR 99 (Aurora Avenue N).  Crews are installing new traffic cameras, signal timers and electronic overhead message boards. This construction project will impact traffic and noise levels near Green Lake beginning tonight. Green Lake Pitch & Putt will open March 1st

The Green Lake Pitch & Putt (a.k.a. the Greenlake Golf Course) is sheduled to open for the season on Monday, March 1. The Pitch & Putt is located on the south end of Green Lake, at 5701 East Green Lake Way N.  It is open every day at 9 a.m., from the beginning of March through the end of October.  It is a nine hole par three course. Do you know how to get in touch with Tim, the owner of the espresso stand that used to be by the boat rentals?

A query from My Green Lake reader Amber Mitrotti: Does anybody know Tim, the owner of the espresso stand that used to be by the boat rentals? I used to stop by all the time and chat. I would love to track him down since the stand appears to be gone and not coming back. I’ve known him for years and am now sad that I don’t know how to get in contact with him.
