Crosses by Green Lake?
The following query just came across the GreenlakeMoms yahoo list:
I’m looking to get in touch with the folks who put the crosses up by Greenlake sometimes. I think they are to remember the soldiers in Iraq. Anyone know who they are?
Anybody have any info about this? Leave a comment on this post or drop us a line.
Update, 9:25 a.m. We just came across these great photos from a vigil held on September 12, 2004 in honor of the American soldiers and Iraqi civilians lost in the war. The vigil was sponsored by Sound Nonviolent Opponents of War (SNOW), Veterans for Peace, and Evergreen Peace and Justice Community.
Update, Wednesday February 17 Thanks to tipster Joe for providing some more information:
The little white crosses put up in Greenlake were not there to honor the men and women who have died in Iraq, but to protest the war. These crosses have not been up since President Obama took office.
