The Green Lake Branch of The Seattle Public Library (7364 E. Green Lake Dr. N.) will operate on a reduced schedule beginning Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010.
The reduction in operating hours was part of a $1.7 million cut to the Library’s 2010 budget to help address a city revenue shortfall.
Under the new schedule, the Green Lake Library’s hours will be:
1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday;
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday;
closed Friday;
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday;
and closed Sunday.
However, several branches, including the following nearby branches, will be open seven days a week with the following expanded hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
• Ballard Branch, 5614 22nd Ave. N.W.
• Greenwood Branch, 8016 Greenwood Ave. N.
• Lake City Branch, 12501 28th Ave. N.E.
• Northeast Branch, 6801 35th Ave. N.E.
Hours at the Central Library in downtown Seattle (1000 Fourth Ave.) will not change: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Yes, you read that right. The Green Lake Branch is losing hours while several other branches are gaining hours. But don’t blame your local librarians – they’re not happy about it either.
