Green Lake resident is collecting medical supplies for Haiti

What do you think? (No Comments) January 23, 2010 at 8:49PM

Looking for a way to contribute to the rescue efforts in Haiti?

Green Lake resident Beth Sutherland is mobilizing the neighborhood to donate medical supplies.  The supplies will be going to Haiti this Tuesday, and Beth needs to receive them by Monday morning at 10 a.m.

Beth writes:

I just found out one of the nurses I work with is going to Haiti THIS TUESDAY, January 26, and taking much-needed supplies with her.

What is most needed is first aid supplies that we can all grab from our medicine cabinets or pick up at any drug/grocery store, specifically:

- Sterile gauze pads–4x4s, 2x2s, any sizes
- Gauze or Kling roll bandages–any sizes
- First aid tape–any type
- Coban or other self-adherent wraps
- Non-adherent pads/bandages–e.g., telfa
- Steri-strips or other adhesive wound closures
- Antibiotic ointment

Anything you would be willing to contribute will, of course, be invaluable to the medical efforts there to prevent infection and further losses to those who have survived this unimaginable event.

Whatever supplies you all can get to me prior to 10am on Monday, 1/25, will be included in this first trip. I can also let you all know when she is going on her next trip and what needs are then if you are interested.

We live on Corliss Ave. N, on the north end of Green Lake. You can leave any contributions on our porch, and I will deliver it to her when we work on Monday. [Email Beth at bethsu66 [at] yahoo [dot] com for her address]

Thanks for everyone’s support on this and let me know if you’d like to hear about future opportunities to help and updates on how your contributions were utilized.

Thanks,
Beth
