My Green Lake is proud to support the 2010 Green Lake Relay for Life!
Look for lots of news about this amazing event over the next several months on MyGreenLake.com. To start things off, we hope that you’ll join us at the Green Lake Relay For Life Kick-Off at Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizza (4411 Stone Way N), from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26.
Kick-Off officially starts the 2010 Relay season. For the next five months up until Relay For Life on June 12, 2010, team members will be working in the community, raising money for cancer research and patient programs, and fighting back against a disease that killed over 500,000 Americans in 2009.
“We are so pleased to once again be welcomed back to Tutta Bella for our Kick-Off,” said Green Lake Relay Event Chair, Kara McDermott. “The response from them and from the Green Lake community has been tremendous and a great reminder of just how many people are passionate about fighting back against a disease that has touched all of us.”
Tutta Bella, known for its authentic Neapolitan pizza and comfortable, neighborhood atmosphere, will offer free appetizers and soft drinks to all in attendance. The event is free and open to anyone interested in becoming a team captain, joining a team, or learning more about Relay.
Join Green Lake Relay For Life at Tutta Bella for a fun and informative evening, Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 6:00-8:00 pm as the 2010 Relay season officially gets under way!
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
Relay began in 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon in Tacoma, Washington, ran and walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then, Relay has grown from a single man’s passion to fight cancer into the world’s largest movement to end the disease. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the United States, along with additional communities in 20 other countries, gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness. Thanks to Relay participants, the American Cancer Society continues to save lives.
