We just received this excellent little piece, which was filmed today, from Craig Downing of Couch Fest Films fame.  Enjoy!

Update, Friday January 22, 1:30 a.m.:

No need to panic, folks, this is pure satire…!  It was made by a local filmmaker.  There is no KING 5.5.  :)

It was a nicely shot video, but I am hoping that it was more of an Almost Live skit than a serious report of change being proposed to the lake. A tunnel sound disastrous and a foot bridge sounds like an eyesore. I hope this idea ends up being forgotten about… just my opinion.

Never fear, Mitch, it was pure satire!!!

Let's compromise: build *both* a tunnel and a footbridge! Ha ha.

This bogus tunnel under Green Lake makes about as much sense as the all-too-real tunnel our city council and former mayor wants us to build along the waterfront. Costs overruns could easily run into the billions, leaving the city strapped for cash for a generation.

The Speaker of the House in Olympia is right. A much better solution would be a new Viaduct capped by a pedestrian park where we could walk, bike and admire a world-class view. It'd give Seattle something no other city in the world has.

And what Green Lake actually needs is an improved jogging trail and some way to separate foot traffic from the much faster wheeled traffic.

A very funny video. They had me believing them until that tunnel came up.

It'd give Seattle something no other city in the world has and offer downtown a way to get out and enjoy the outdoors like we do at Green Lake.
